Dyson Canada launches laser technology, a redesigned format and advanced hair pickup tools in new range of cordless vacuums

According to a recent survey conducted by Dyson, 47 per cent of Canadians report they are cleaning more than ever before[2]. To support Canadians in keeping their homes healthy and clean, Dyson has launched the Dyson V15 Detect™ Total Clean and Dyson Omni-glide™ cordless vacuums in Canada.
The Dyson V15 Detect™ Total Clean is engineered to detect hidden dust and is equipped with a patented acoustic piezo sensor to enable scientific proof of what's been sucked up. Developed by a team of 370 engineers globally, the Dyson V15 DetectTM Total Clean uses a Dyson Hyperdymium motor to generate up to 230 air watts of suction and five-stage filtration to capture 99.99% of dust down to 0.3 microns in Boost mode for the most powerful deep clean. This advanced vacuum redefines deep cleaning.
The Dyson Omni-glide™ vacuum delivers a brand-new way to clean hard floors. Engineered for daily cleaning in city homes, this flexible cordless vacuum is the perfect choice for users who like to vacuum often and get into the difficult nooks and crannies. Its omnidirectional Fluffy™ cleaner head has been engineered to glide in all directions[3]. An in-line format aligns the separation system, motor, filter and handle, to enable the machine to lie flat to the floor[4] and clean in tight spaces, such as under a sofa or between furniture. This new format is the result of extensive research, including 470 hours of trials with 277 users in their homes across six countries.

Dyson V15 Detect™ laser dust detection
Dyson is the only technology company to pioneer vacuums with laser dust technology that ensures you don’t miss a speck of dust in your home. Laser dust detection reveals the particles you cannot normally see with a precisely angled laser integrated into the cleaner head.
The idea came about when a Dyson Engineer noticed that airborne particles in their home glistened in the sun. They began to research how they could take this notion and apply it to the fine dust we cannot see in our home. The team experimented with laser lights in the lab to test how this could be achieved, and a new solution was born. Dyson engineers integrated a green laser diode – chosen for its ability to provide the best contrast – into the Slim Fluffy cleaner head, positioning it precisely at a 1.5-degree angle, 7.2mm off the ground. It means hidden dust on the floor surface that is otherwise invisible to the naked eye can be seen and removed.

Dyson V15 Detect™ piezo sensor
Understanding that now more than ever people want more hygienic homes, Dyson engineers set about developing a technology which enables the user to measure the dust it detects and then displays it on an LCD screen for real time scientific proof of a deep clean.
An acoustic piezo sensor has been integrated into the vacuum. Carbon fibre filaments in the cleaner head pick up microscopic particles which are sized and counted 15,000 times a second. The dust enters the vacuum and hits the acoustic piezo sensor within the bin inlet with the tiny vibrations being converted to electrical signals – the most accurate way to measure microscopic particles. The dust size and quantity are shown on the in-built LCD screen, so the user can see just how much dust the vacuum has removed, as well as the different sizes of particles.
The vacuum has been designed so that it automatically increases suction power when it comes across a large amount of dust. This happens in auto mode, when the piezo sensor detects high concentrations of dust, and reactive suction power is triggered to automatically increase in power. When dust levels normalize, suction power is reduced to its previous level.

Anti-tangle technology included with Dyson V15 Detect™
Introducing a new anti-tangle Hair Screw: Dyson Engineers also looked to solve the problem of removing hair on the brush bar. This is often a challenge for many vacuums, despite claims to the contrary by some, so we have developed a new anti-tangle conical brush bar which spirals hair off and into the bin. This prevents the wrapping of hair around the brush bar, with no compromise on pick-up performance. Designed for human and pet hair, our engineers delicately tweaked the precise angle of the bristles on the tool, to ensure the release force did not tangle the hair and tested the tool on multiple hair types.
New anti-tangle High Torque cleaner head: Dyson’s powerful V15 Detect High Torque cleaner head now has 56 polycarbonate teeth which looks like a comb. These small teeth prevent tangling around the bristles when you are cleaning, and automatically clears hair from the brush bar, so you don’t have to.

Omni-glide™ Features
- Easy, smoother bin emptying: the straight, slim bin has an ejection mechanism with a rotary catch to drive out dust in one smooth action. A silicone collar wipes down the mesh shroud to drive out dust without dirtying your hands.
- Power button: the vacuum has a power button instead of the classic trigger, meaning users can swap hands while navigating obstacles, making cleaning that much easier.
- Easy maintenance: to remove dust build-up, you can wash the bin, filter, brush bar, and any tools without electronic components.

Dyson Omni-glide™ omnidirectional Fluffy cleaner head
The Dyson Omni-glide™ features the first omnidirectional Fluffy™ cleaner head that floats on four 360° stabilizing castors which allow it to move effortlessly in all directions and into tight spaces. It is our most manoeuvrable vacuum due to two core technologies: the omnidirectional fluffy cleaner head and the in-line format. The castors' height and placement were engineered to ensure minimal resistance – whether rolling forwards, backwards or sideways. Sealed ball bearings also allow for a smooth change of direction and minimise build-up of dirt.

Both the Dyson V15 Detect™ Total Clean and Dyson Omni-glide™ feature Dyson’s advanced filtration technologies. Our Dyson cyclone technology is efficient at separating dust and dirt from floors and surfaces and whole machine sealing means this isn’t leaked back into your homes.
Exclusive to DysonCanada.ca and Dyson Demo Stores will be the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute that meets whole machine HEPA filtration standards and filters 99.97% of particles down to 0.1 microns.
