Shot of Science World

Science World case study

Dyson Airblade dB mounted to the wall

The business

Opened in 1989, Vancouver’s Science World museum aims to engage British Columbians in science and to inspire future science and technology leadership throughout the province.

Old fashioned hand dryer attached to wall above used paper towels

The problem

“Science World was spending a lot of money on paper towels,” explains facilities manager Ismail Vohra, “so we were looking for a cost cutting measure that was also environmentally responsible.”

  • 1 Dry time determined using Dyson test method 769 based on NSF P335 using a measurement of 0.1g residual moisture.
  • 2 The environmental impact of electrical appliances and paper towels was measured by Carbon Trust. The calculations were produced using the software Footprint Expert Pro, based on product use over 5 years and using weighted averages of individual countries of use. Dry times for product were evaluated using DTM 769.
