Which Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler attachments are right for you?
Part of choosing the best multi-styler for your hair type is making sure it comes with the right hair care tools for the styles you want to create. So it’s important to look for a hair styler that allows you to customize it to suit your hair’s needs. The Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler, which offers a choice of 15 specialist attachments, lets you do just this.
Hair types explained
There are four key hair types – straight hair, wavy hair, curly hair and coily hair¹.
Each is determined by follicle shape.¹ Hair is also categorized by thickness of the strands into fine, medium, or coarse.¹ This thickness, combined with the volume of hairs on your head, can determine how full your head of hair looks.¹
Along with length, these aspects combine to define your hair. One person may have long, fine, and straight hair, while their friend may have short, coarse, and curly hair. Each would need different Dyson Airwrap™ attachments to give their hair the best treatment possible.
If you’re unsure about your hair type, consult our hair type diagnosis tool to find out.
Airwrap™ attachments for different hair types
Our extensive range of 15 Dyson Airwrap™ attachments is engineered with the same precision as the styler itself, to help you customize your machine for your specific hair type.
20mm Barrel
The 20mm barrel helps you create very tight curls. It can be used on any length of hair, but works especially well with very short hair.
30mm Barrel
30mm barrels create slightly looser curls. Having both the 20mm barrel and the 30mm barrel provides great options for those with short hair, who can’t make longer, looser curls. They also help add variety to longer hair.
New 30mm Airwrap™ long barrel
In addition, the 30mm barrels are available in a longer version that’s optimized for volumizing and curling longer hair.
40mm Barrel
The larger 40mm barrel creates very loose curls and waves. The 40mm barrel is best used with long hair.
New 40mm Airwrap™ long barrel
For especially long hair, there is also a long barrel version of the 40mm barrel. This is great for volumizing longer hair and adding loose curls.
Firm smoothing brush
The firm smoothing brush is designed to give you control over thicker, coarser hair. it features hard bristles that can push through thick hair without harming the scalp.
Soft smoothing brush
The softer bristles of the new Soft smoothing brush are engineered for use on fine hair. Regular bristles can be too harsh for fine hair, which can cause breakage, so the use of soft bristles can help keep your hair healthier for longer.
Round volumising brush
Our Round volumizing brush adds body to all hair types, making your hair look fuller and thicker. We also stock a Large round volumising brush which creates more volume and styles longer hair quicker and easier. Round volumizing brushes are universal tools that we recommend, no matter your hair length, thickness, or type.
Small brushes
There are small versions of the Soft smoothing brush, Firm smoothing brush and Round volumizing brush. These brushes are designed to work best with short hair and specific segments of hair such as fringes.
Wide-tooth comb
The Wide-tooth comb is engineered with robust teeth that lengthen your curls and coils as they dry. It can also be used to shape and volumize your hair by using the Coanda effect instead of extreme heat.
2-in-1 Coanda smoothing dryer
The 2-in-1 Coanda smoothing dryer is suitable for all hair types. It dries your hair and smooths flyaways, using two jets of air to lift long hairs and push stray hairs underneath the tress.
Diffuser
Our diffuser attachment uses alternating prongs to evenly spread air over your hair, simulating natural drying. This helps reduce frizz while defining and enhancing naturally curly, coily, or wavy hair.
